Your safety first! Watch out for your own safety. Check surroundings for dangers before approaching the person.


CONDITION CHECKING


Check consciousness & breathing: Address person, shake gently. No response? Check breathing: Tilt head, max. 10 secs see, hear, feel. No normal breathing? Call emergency & start CPR!



CALLING FOR HELP

Call 112 – Immediately!: Call or have someone call! Report: unconscious, no normal breathing, CPR started. Ask for AED!
5 Ws (briefly!): Where? What (unconscious, no breathing, CPR started)? How many? Emergency? Wait!
Speakerphone: Phone on loud! Hands free for CPR & instructions.
Don't hang up: Stay on line until help arrives or control center says so.
Bystanders – AED!: Have AED fetched! Take turns doing compressions.
Condition changes?: Inform control center (AED use, shock, signs of life).




CPR
Unconscious and no normal breathing? Every second counts! Start CPR immediately. Use AED as soon as available. Continue until help takes over or person breathes normally.
1. Expose chest: Remove clothing from upper body. Kneel beside them.
2. Hand placement: Heel of one hand on center of chest. Other hand on top.
3. Compressions (30x): Arms straight, push 5-6 cm deep. Fast: 100-120/min. Fully release chest. 30 compressions.
4. Open airway: Tilt head back, lift chin.
5. Breaths (2x): Pinch nose. Open mouth. Normal breath in, mouth to mouth, blow for 1 sec until chest rises. 2 breaths. (Only if you feel confident, otherwise just compressions.)
6. Alternate: 30 compressions, then 2 breaths. Continue without pause.
Using an AED
Get & start AED: Get AED (or have it brought). Turn on & follow instructions.
Attach pads: Apply to bare chest as shown.
Follow prompts: Continue CPR. If shock advised: Nobody touch person! Press shock button. Resume CPR immediately.
CPR & AED with Two Rescuers
One starts CPR. Second calls 112 & gets AED. AED arrives? Second operates it, first continues CPR. Switch compressions every 2 mins. Follow AED prompts.
