RECOVERY POSITION
Unconscious with normal breathing? Secure the airway.

SAFETY FIRST

Ensure safety: Watch out for your safety and the person's. Secure the surroundings if necessary.

CONDITION CHECKING

Check condition: Address the person, gently shake shoulders. Check breathing (see, hear, feel) for max. 10 seconds. Breathing normally? Then recovery position.

POSITIONING

Someone unconscious but breathing normally? Put them in the recovery position. This keeps the airway clear.
1. Prepare: Kneel beside the person. Straighten their legs. Extend near arm at a right angle, forearm up (palm up).
2. Arm to cheek: Grasp far arm. Place back of hand on near cheek and hold.
3. Bend leg: Grasp far thigh and bend the leg.
4. Roll over: Pull person towards you. Align upper leg at a right angle to the hip.
5. Adjust head: Tilt head back, slightly open mouth. Check if airway is clear.
6. Monitor: Keep checking breathing until help arrives. Comfort person, protect from cold.

CALLING FOR HELP

Call 112: Call now! Report: unconscious, breathing normally, recovery position.
5 Ws: Where? What (unconscious, breathing, recovery position)? How many? Injuries? Wait!
Speakerphone: Use it to keep hands free.
Don't hang up: End call only when control center says so.
Bystanders: Ask them to get a blanket (protect from cold) and shield.
Condition changes?: Inform control center (e.g., breathing stops, wakes up).

WOUND DRESSING

Visible injuries?: In recovery position, securing breathing is priority. You can loosely cover obvious, heavily bleeding wounds without compromising positioning.

COMFORTING

Show care: Stay with the person. Speak reassuringly, even if they seem unconscious. Your presence matters.

TEMPERATURE MANAGEMENT
Body temperature: Protect the person from getting too cold (e.g., with an emergency blanket, clothes) or too hot (shade).
